It encompasses any activity that is understood objectively, communicates with an audience, is created by external stimulus, offers pleasure and requires the audience to be passive. According to Oliver and Barstsch (2010) entertainment combines six elements: it is consumer activity, involves objects, is a form of communication, has an aesthetic effect, entertains an audience and involves a passive experience.
